"That reminds me," Big Bill said. "I have customers waiting!" He gave Dad his doughnuts.

Carlotta gave Dad her chocolate milk.

Gertrude gave Dad her apples.

Pete gave Mary his pizza.

Fran gave Mary her lollipops.

"Thank you!" Dad and Mary said. Their friends ran back to their jobs.

Mary and Dad had a picnic on the grass. They read and told jokes until it was time for dinner.

Just before they went home, two ducks hurried by.

"I wonder what ducks eat for dinner?" Dad said.

"I wonder what ducks don't eat," Mary said.

"I hope they don't eat popcorn and ice cream and hot dogs," Dad said.

They ran to find out.
